Art and Design

Art Program
Education in the arts involves students intellectually, emotionally, socially, and physically. Learning through the arts therefore fosters integration of students’ cognitive, emotional, sensory, and motor capacities, and enables students with a wide variety of learning styles to increase their learning potential.
Arts education prepares students for the fast-paced changes and the creative economy of the twenty-first century. Learning through the arts develops many skills, abilities, and attitudes that are critical in the workplace – for example, communication and problem-solving skills; the ability to be creative, imaginative, innovative, and original; the ability to be adaptable and to work with others; and positive attitudes and behaviours.
At Webtree Academy, we offer a variety of art courses including Drama, Visual Arts, Media Arts and Visual Design courses to enrich student learning and enhance creativity.

Drawing & Painting
While studying Painting units, students will learn colour theory and painting techniques. Students will explore & respond to a variety of social, ecological, and personal issues through their own artwork and through the reflection on historical and contemporary art.


Sculpture
Students will develop works that contain a personal visual narratives from a variety of materials and stages in order to express a personal, cultural, historical themes. Students will then present and discuss their work in terms of techniques ancient to contemporary, personal narratives, cultural and historical reference.

Art History


Art Careers & Portfolios
Students will look at their produced art works and learn about the appropriate standards and conventions for presenting creative disciplines for a variety of art career purposes. Talk about their work in terms of self-analysis on techniques and presentation and communication of ideas, artistic growth and understanding from a personal, cultural and historical reference.
There are many types of portfolios in the creative fields of studies. Visual Arts Portfolios are personal student portfolios that lead to demonstrating success, skills and ability toward a career development in the arts. The portfolio will demonstrate projects and activities, abilities, and possible employability of an individual’s completed Art and/ or Design artworks. These are samplings of the very best of an artist’s work to date and students will learn a variety of ways to present their works in a variety of professional formats.
